This distinguished collection presents eleven carefully transcribed and arranged classical and light classical works for xylophone with piano accompaniment by the legendary Japanese xylophonist Yoichi Hiraoka. Yoichi Hiraoka is considered to be one of the most outstanding xylophone performers and a huge influence to xylophonists throughout the world, and this album represents his deep appreciation for classical repertoire adapted for the xylophone.


Hiraoka has always been known as someone who enjoyed playing classical and light classical works on the xylophone. The collection includes:

Yoichi Hiraoka (1915-1981) was a pioneering Japanese xylophonist who achieved international recognition and significantly influenced the development of the xylophone as a solo concert instrument. In 1941, he recorded an album of classical works for Decca, with piano accompaniment by Vladimir Brenner. It was reported that the great conductor Arturo Toscanini personally asked Hiraoka to play for him.
